Genetic Music: An Annotated
Source List. Ed. M.A. Clark. 2002. http://www.whozoo

This site features the leading proponents of molecular music. These
specialists argue that the tertiary structures of genes that are
of extreme important are emphasized in molecular music. Since music
is understood better than complex DNA, the music form gives clues
to the structure of the DNA itself. Such insight can then allow
scientists to ‘hear’ an important gene in some other
organism. My comments: I am almost getting the picture that the
idea of music is being destroyed. If anything, music’s objective
is in its subjectivity! Music would not be music if it could be
defined as finite loops and whirls along a DNA strange – that’s
math not music. Also, expecting scientists to identify a strand
of atonal music in other organisms since the music acts like “melodies”
is nearly impossible for professional musicians, let alone scientists.
